Any brand can pay $$$ to slap a logo on a March Madness floor. But we gave fans a once-in-a-lifetime taste of victory - Black Label Bacon smoked with the real maple hardwood used to make the Final Four championship court floors. The world’s most elite meat.
How’d we score the wood? Turns out, one company has made every NCAAB Final Four floor for 60 years. So in the run up to the 2023 tourney, we sweet talked them into giving us the trim ends and sawdust from the boards used to make the 2023 Championship court. Yes, the actual Final floor boards. We pressed the sacred wood into smoking chips, fired up 68lbs of “Hardcourt Smoked Bacon”, and packaged each pound up with floor chip samples and a certificate of authenticity.
We dropped a few simple social posts and naturally, madness ensued. 30,000+ people entered to win and the act landed Black Label Bacon at center court of March Madness Finals media coverage. And all it cost was the price to ship the wood to our smoking facility. No $$$$ sponsorship required. Victory tastes sweet. And slightly smoky.
